Paris: from the airports to the city center

Here we provide some information regarding the airports of Paris and their connection to the city center. We will focus on ways having to do with local public transport.



Charles de Gaulle International Airport (Roissy ICAO: LFPG, IATA: CDG)

Location: 17km north of Paris

Terminals: You will arrive in one of the three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 ( the biggest one, consisted of terminals 2A through 2G), and Terminal 3. There is a shuttle train (without charge) CDGVAL which connects the three terminals. Terminal 2G is a seperate building and is linked to terminal 2C (entrance 4) by the free N3 shuttle. All international flights arrive at terminal 1, excluding Air France, Terminal 2 serves Air France flights and other airlines flying to European destinations and Terminal T3 is to be used only by charter flights.

Connections with central paris

RER B

The airport is connected to central Paris with the RER B line. The station « Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1 » serves terminals 1 and 3. The station « Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 - TGV» serves terminals 2 ABCDEF and G.
Transport costs € 8.40 (Pass Navigo zone 1-5 accepted) for a journey Paris-Châtelet les Halles > Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport.
Time to Châtelet les Halles is around 50 minutes.

Roissybus

The service links all terminals directly to Opéra Garnier. The bus stops at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Terminals 2A, 2C, 2E-2F, 2D, 2B, 3 and 1.
Service costs € 8.90 (Pass Navigo zones 1-5 accepted)
Time to central paris is around 60 minutes or more depending on traffic

Air France buses

They bring you to central paris (Porte Maillot, Montparnasse). Cars Air France line 2 links to Étoile and Porte Maillot while line 4 links to Gare de Lyon and Gare Montparnasse. They stop at Terminal 2A-2C, 2E-2F, 2D-2B and 1.
The cost is € 15.00 and € 16.50 respectively (Pass Navigo not accepted).
Time is 45 minutes or more.

Noctilien bus

Useful for a late arrival. They stop at Terminals 1, 2F and 3, Terminals ABCDE are linked to terminal 2F, either by the pedestrian walkway or the free N1 shuttle. Terminal 2G is linked to terminal 2F ("galerie 6") by the free N2 shuttle.
The cost is € 6.40 (Pass Navigo zones 1-5 accepted).
The journey lasts around 60 minutes

TGV train station

The Paris-Charles de Gaulle SNCF station is located between terminals 2C-2D and 2E-2F with direct connections bypassing paris.

Most comfortable option: Air France bus
Cheapest (but efficient) option: RER B line to central Paris

Orly International Airport (ICAO: LFPO, IATA: ORY)

Location: 14 km south of centre

Terminals: there are two terminals Orly Ouest for domestic flights and Orly Sud for international flights.

Connections with central Paris

Orlybus

Connects terminal Orly Sud with metro/RER station Denfert Rocherau. From this station RER line B or metro lines 4 and 6 can be used to reach your final destination.

Cost: € 6,30 (Navigo pass zones 1-4 accepted)

The bus leaves every 12 minutes from 5.45 to 23.30 and the journey takes aboyut 20-30 minutes.

OrlyVal

Train line connecting Orly Sud with RER B station Antony.

Cost: € 7,40 only covering the journey between Orly and Antony. Alternatively ticket covering both OrlydVal and transportation with RER B to the city centre costs 9,60 ( adult) and 4,80 (child). If you have the intention to use pass Navigo , just pay the cost for the OrlyVal which is not included in the pass and then use Navigo for the transportation with RER.

Τhe train leaves every 8 min from 06.00 to 23.00 and the joyrney lasts about 8 minutes from the airport to Antony.

Bus line 285

Connects Orly Sud with metro line Villejuif Louis Aragon (line 7).Departs from -1 level.

Cost: € 1,70 from the airport to Villejuif Louis Aragon (pass Navigo zones 1-4 accepted). Note that you need to buy a different ticket to use the metro system.

The bus leaves every 15 minutes and takes 15 minutes to arrive to the metro station.

AirFrance bus

Line 1 airfrance buses connect the airport with Gare Montparnasse, Etoile and Invalides. The bus departs from entrance D (Orly Ouest) and entrance L (Orly Sud).

Cost: € 11,50

Τhe journey lasts about 35 minutes.

Most comfortable option: Air France bus
Cheapest (but very efficient) option: Bus 285 and Metro
